LOS ANGELES, CA — No Matter What Recovery Detox (NMWRD), a leading inpatient detox and residential treatment center dedicated to serving the LGBTQ+ community, has named veteran clinician Robert Young as its new Clinical Director. Young brings more than 20 years of experience in substance recovery, trauma treatment, and sexual addiction therapy to the role.
The announcement was made by co-founders Anthony Arranaga-Grayson and Paulo Anthony-Grayson, who have continued to expand NMWRW’s mission across Los Angeles with a commitment to culturally competent, trauma-informed care.
For Young, the move represents a powerful return to the work he feels most connected to.
“Returning to a detox and residential clinical setting feels like a homecoming for me,” he said. “I’m excited to once again focus on supporting clients navigating the often-devastating intersection of crystal meth misuse and sex. This next chapter is about doing meaningful, life-changing work for individuals in the LGBTQ+ community.”
Anthony praised Young’s depth of experience and leadership style, noting that his compassion and expertise are exactly what NMWRD needs during a time when substance misuse and mental health challenges continue to rise nationwide.
“Robert’s background in treating crystal meth use and sexualized drug use, paired with his commitment to empathy and dignity, will strengthen our inpatient programs and help individuals and families move toward healing and transformation,” Anthony said.
Paulo added that Young’s work with adults, adolescents, LGBTQIA+ clients, and veterans aligns perfectly with the program’s mission.
“His trauma-informed and affirming style will be invaluable in helping clients rebuild their lives with strength and purpose,” Paulo said.
Young is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist as well as a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist—qualifications that position him uniquely to support clients dealing with chemsex, sexualized drug use, and the sensitive layers of trauma often tied to addiction.
In his new role, he will oversee clinical guidance across detox and residential programs, ensuring clients experience a seamless transition into outpatient care and long-term recovery planning.
No Matter What Recovery has earned recognition for offering an affirming, inclusive environment for individuals who have often faced rejection, discrimination, and stigma. Research shows LGBTQ+ adults are more than twice as likely as heterosexual adults to use illicit drugs, and nearly twice as likely to experience a substance use disorder.
To meet these needs, NMWRW offers evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). The program is also considered a national leader in chemsex education and treatment, with group sessions focusing on trauma, relapse prevention, communication, and goal-setting.
Currently, No Matter What Recovery operates five sober living homes, supporting up to 40 clients at a time, with plans to expand detox and residential operations next year by adding six additional beds.
