Monday is a federal holiday observing New Year’s Day. Here’s what’s open, closed and rescheduled:
Closed: Schools, banks, U.S. financial markets, courthouses and federal, state, county and city offices, and some commercial businesses and retail outlets.
Open: Most commercial businesses and retail outlets. Call before heading out.
Mail: No residential or business delivery.
Trash: Residential pickup will be one day late in most cities. Culver City Sanitation customers whose pick-up day falls on New Year’s Day should have received alternate pickup date information.
Public transportation: Torrance Transit will not be operating on New Year’s Day. Other transit authorities are offering free rides to the public. Visit websites for more information.
