San Bernardino County marks 4th day in row with no coronavirus deaths
San Bernardino County went a fourth consecutive day with no reported deaths from COVID-19 on Wednesday, Sept. 23, after recording 50 deaths Saturday, Sept. 19, and an average of more than 13 deaths per day last week.
Meanwhile, reported cases rose by 248 compared to Tuesday, Sept. 22, and the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 continued to drop, with the fewest people in hospitals with a confirmed COVID-19 case since June 7.
Here are the latest numbers, according to county and state public health officials.
San Bernardino County
Confirmed cases: 53,121, up from 52,873 Tuesday
Deaths: 908, no change from Tuesday
Hospitalizations: 162 confirmed patients Tuesday, down from 164 Monday; 72 suspected patients Tuesday, up from 71 Monday
Intensive-care unit: 46 confirmed patients Tuesday, same as Monday; 12 suspected patients Tuesday, same as Monday
People tested: 592,444, up from 589,437 Tuesday
Resolved cases (estimate): 50,894, up from 50,685 Tuesday
Reopening plan tier: Purple (widespread risk level). Many non-essential indoor business operations are closed.
New cases per day per 100,000 residents: 6.0, as of Tuesday
Case rate adjusted for testing volume: 6.7, as of Tuesday
Test positivity rate: 5.7%, as of Tuesday
What’s next: San Bernardino County is meeting both criteria to move to a less-restrictive tier (adjusted case rate of 7.0 or less, positivity rate of 8% or less). If it meets both for a second consecutive week, it will advance. The state updates the numbers on Tuesdays.
