4 Inland schools named 2020 National Blue Ribbon award winners

Four Inland schools, including two in the Rancho Cucamonga area, are among three dozen National Blue Ribbon School award winners in California, the U.S. Department of Education announced Thursday, Sept. 24.

Carleton P. Lightfoot Elementary School in Alta Loma, Coyote Canyon Elementary School in Rancho Cucamonga,  LaVerne Elementary Preparatory Academy in Hesperia and Pauba Valley Elementary School in Temecula are among the 36 schools honored in California.

Each year, the National Blue Ribbon School program recognizes elementary and secondary schools for their overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups, according to a Department of Education news release. More than 9,000 schools nationwide have been recognized by the program over the past 38 years.

Winners of the 2020 awards will be recognized in a virtual ceremony Nov. 12 and 13, due to coronavirus restrictions.
